Sara & Martin | Lifestyle Session | Paris

"La vie est une fleur dont l’amour est le miel.""

"Life is a flower of which love is the honey"

- Victor Hugo

What should be said about Paris that hasn't been said before? The city of love, cheese, and wine. Of all the travels I’ve been on, my trips to Paris are the most memorable. Two years ago, I packed a small bag along with my camera and took a trip to Ireland, London, and Paris. Today, I’ll mainly focus on the latter.

Of all the places I’ve travelled, Paris is my favorite and most memorable. The first time I went there, I went to get away. The second, just a little over a year later, with my husband, was part of a short honeymoon trip. And what better place for a honeymoon than Paris!

But this post isn’t about me, maybe I’ll write about that another time. This is about the beautiful couple we met out there. As a photographer, it’s always been a goal of mine to do a session with a beautiful couple and the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Meet, Sara and Martin.

I reached out to Sara through Instagram wondering if she’d entertain my request, we scheduled the session on September 14, 2018. At this point, Sara had been living in Paris for about 3 and a half years. We decided on meeting at 7am, which was perfect considering how early most landmarks get filled with couples and tourists wanting to capture their special moment.

We were set to meet a café within walking distance to the tower, but as luck would have it, they only took cash, which we didn’t have on us. Yes, Paris still has places that don’t accept credit cards, in fact this seems to be a theme amongst small shops. Luckily, we didn’t need the coffee, the morning chill and beautiful scenery was enough to keep us awake!

Sara started taking French since Pre-kindergarten and was obsessed with everything French and Parisian from a very young age. It was always a dream of hers to live in Paris, and finally got the opportunity to live it a few years ago. She started her experience in Paris as an au pair for a French family. For those too lazy to look up what an “Au Pair” is, an au pair is a domestic assistant from a foreign country working for, and living as part of, a host family. She spent that year teaching English to the 3 girls, then went on to pursue her Master’s. Currently Sara works in media relations for a company in Paris.

Sara and Martin met in July of 2017 at a wedding. Martin was the best man to his childhood friend, who was getting married to one of Sara’s really good friends. After dancing together all night at the wedding, they have been inseparable since.

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Alonso | Anniversary Session | Chicago Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Alex and Christie for their anniversary trip from Florida to Chicago. The weather had been so amazing until they got into town, sunny and warm turned to rain and grey skies. Luckily we arrived on location early enough to experience light drizzles and no tourist. Pure luck!

Kealy | Maternity Session | Chicago Photographer

Thank you Chicago for giving us some really great weather days recently. The warm shift allowed me to photograph Holly and Luke in Lincoln Park without being stormed on. Of course Holly and I attended high school together, another "SSA Will Be Forever True" moment!

Goble | Family Session | Chicago Photographer

I was lucky enough to make some memorable connections in high school. It seems like every city I visit there is a woman that attended St. Scholastica Academy.

My 4th trip to Las Vegas sprung this photoshoot with my high school colleague Lacey and her beautiful children. I had never traveled outside of the strip so on the car ride to meet them I was blown away by the surrounding mountain view. Luckily for me we found a walking path near their home to capture these great moments and beautiful backdrop.

Trevor + Megan | Engagement | Chicago Photographer

Love is in the air! I had the pleasure of photographing Trevor and Megan this past week in Chicago. If you have been in the Chicago area the past few months, the weather is very unordinary. We lucked up with a warm day of 50 degrees. Woot Woot! Usually on a good day, tourist traffic can be extremely high but not a ton of people were at Millennium Park. You can say we had a perfect session! It's so refreshing when you photograph a couple that are genuinely happy. You can tell by the love in their eyes and the huge smiles you see below.

Go Cubs Go | Cubs Win the world series | chicago photographer

What an amazing topic to write about for my first post.

I remember being so excited last year when the Cubs made it to the NLCS. My sister Kaylyn, was the only other Cubs fan in our family and kept saying just be calm, the boys can do it. A sweep happened that brought out the saying "Ugh I hate the Mets, we will win next year! Next year is our year!" Well, it's 2016 and the boys did it, the Chicago Cubs are World Series champs!
